Swire Energy Services wins Ørsted aviation contract for world’s largest offshore wind project

Global energy services provider, Swire Energy Services’ (SES) growth in aviation continues with the award of a new contract with Ørsted in the UK Southern North Sea.

The two-year contract, with the option of two one-year extensions, covers the provision of helideck services and helicopter refuelling system services for Hornsea One, the largest offshore wind farm in the world, located off the Yorkshire coast.

This contract builds on the previous original equipment manufacturer (OEM) contract in 2017, for three complete helicopter refuelling systems, and includes further scope for the provision of aviation services for additional Hornsea installations later in the project.

Speaking about the contract win, Jonathan Hughes, Vice President Aviation at Swire Energy Services, said:

“We are delighted to be able to continue our long-standing relationship with Ørsted following the award of this new aviation contract. This is a significant project to be involved in and we look forward to supporting them with the ongoing efficient operation of the Hornsea One and Hornsea Two wind farms over the coming years.

“Providing aviation services for the world’s largest wind farm is precedence of our continued growth, following the acquisition of Norwegian based Helifuel AS last year.”

The contract will be delivered by SES’ aviation teams in Aberdeen, Norway and the UAE, with support from the company’s global aviation centre of excellence.

This announcement comes just weeks’ after the expansion of SES’ wind division with the significant acquisition of Danish specialist wind service provider, ALL NRG.

Swire Energy Services has won an aviation services contract in Sub-Saharan Africa

Swire Energy Services (SES) has won an aviation services contract supporting a global offshore vessel owner in Sub-Saharan Africa.

The contract is a development on the existing commercial relationship and will see SES provide an aviation services package including supply of helifuel system spares, helifuel system inspection and reactivation. The team consisting of SES West Africa’s Commercial Manager Eno Inyang, supported by Jonathan Hughes, Vice President – Aviation, and the SES Global Aviation Team, have successfully delivered aviation services including helifuel refueling system inspection and offshore tank certification for the customer on their Barge Lancelot vessel offshore in Sub Saharan Africa since 2018.

Swire Energy Services Asia Pacific division picks up first aviation service contract in Singapore

Swire Energy Services (SES) Asia Pacific division has won its first aviation service contract supporting a major drilling contractor in the region.

The contract will see SES provide offshore aviation services including recertification and audit of refuelling system, inspection and testing of helifuel tanks, content disposal, and procurement of spare parts for helifuel services systems. The services will be carried out across the Singapore region.

Swire Energy Services has been established in the aviation industry in the UK for over 30 years, having further developed their service offering over the last three years through the acquisition of Gordon Engineering Services in 2018 and Helifuel AS in 2020. The development of the aviation division forms part of Swire Energy Services long term strategy to develop and diversify the aviation service offering; creating a package of regional aviation support services to support offshore oil & gas, marine and offshore wind customers.

Helifuel AS has been acquired by Swire Oilfield Services

The leading global offshore container solution provider Swire Oilfield Services has acquired Norwegian business Helifuel AS in a move which sees the Aberdeen-headquartered business strengthen its international refuelling and aviation offering.

The deal comes as Swire Oilfield Services continues to expand its services globally having also acquired specialist aviation firm Gordon Engineering Services (GES) in 2018. Jonathan Hughes, Swire Oilfield Services Group General Manager, will head up the global service line and lead further expansion plans.

Former owner and founder of Helifuel AS, Oddvar Ostensvik, will remain with the business, along with its current management team, led by Managing Director Jorunn Håvardsholm.
Established in 1996, Helifuel AS specialises in refuelling systems and services, including design, manufacture, inspection, maintenance, training, and rental of systems for the offshore oil and gas, marine and wind industries.

Together the two companies will offer a fully integrated refuelling and aviation services business, drawing on the experience gained by both businesses in their respective markets.

New Business Secured in August 2020

Helifuel is very happy to announce that it has secured  a new contract for delivery to maritime environments.
The scope of work includes design, engineering and delivery of two fuelling systems.

Due to confidentiality agreements we cannot share further information on the projects other than the client and Helifuel are pleased to be working together.

Even though most information is restricted, we wanted to share the positive news.
We are looking forward to cooperating with our client to deliver these innovative projects with stringent safety standards.

These cutting edge systems will be digitally advanced, greener for the environment and more user-friendly than most systems operating in the markets today.

Another Helicopter Refuelling System for Major Client Nears Completion.

The finishing touches are being applied to this beauty.
This is a helicopter refuelling system complying with standards such as CAP 437, US Coast Guard, ABS class regulations and a number of customized standards.When operating in the aviation industry safety is the key to every part of the process and this system includes a number of safety measures.

Many fuelling systems were in production when the world was hit by the Corona virus.

Despite the global impacts of Covid19, Helifuel has managed to complete and deliver Helifuel systems for our clients.
In fact, seven fuelling systems have left the Helifuel yard since the world was impacted by the Covid-19.
Working from home offices, stringent travelling routines and safety office and workshop entrance restrictions are some of the measures we have introduced.

Meetings that would normally be face to face have been handled through video conferences.
Helifuel has provided live feed video monitoring which allows our clients to oversee and interact with factory acceptance testing (FAT) in real time.

 

Safety and progress is key.

During the last few months we have focused on the following:

  • Ensure safety for all parties involved including employees, vendors and clients.
  • Continue the production as planned.

We will continue focusing on our two goals going forward – safety and progress.
